On October 23, Director Jin Li of the UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO-ICHEI), accompanied by staff from the International Leading Education Alliance (ILEA), visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP). During the visit, he toured the IIOE Singapore Training Centre, located within Temasek Polytechnic, which is the planned training and educational base for the HLCC programme.
At Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Director Jin Li and his delegation were warmly welcomed by the institution’s leadership. They toured the college’s modern academic buildings and creative practice centres. Through detailed briefings and live demonstrations, Director Jin Li learned about TP’s achievements in integrating education with industry needs, as well as its forward-looking strategies for developing future-ready talents. He highly commended TP’s educational philosophy of “skill advancement for industry collaboration with an international perspective.”
Following the campus visit, the delegation toured the planned IIOE Singapore Training Centre, which will function as the Southeast Asian base for HLCC Programme. The centre’s representatives presented a comprehensive overview of the HLCC course framework — including the curriculum structure, coach certification standards, student practicum design, and assessment mechanisms. Director Jin Li had an in-depth discussion with the centre’s management team on the programme launch timeline, scale of enrolment, evaluation models, and integration with Singapore’s education system.
Director Jin Li noted that selecting Singapore as a key hub for the HLCC programme was based on the nation’s leadership in educational innovation and international collaboration. He expressed his hope that the centre would leverage its openness, multicultural diversity, and international connectivity to establish close cooperation with educational institutions in China and other Asian countries, creating a global platform for cultivating HLCC coaches.
At the same time, Director Jin Li encouraged both the polytechnic and the training centre to further strengthen faculty development, curriculum research, and practical training projects. This is to ensure that HLCC programme launched in Singapore will expand across the region — ultimately becoming a benchmark programme for healthy lifestyle education in Asia.
